An unforgettable night

Yanni is katy's favorite musician and isaac won some tickets (80 dollars each!) i dressed katy in that beautiful white dress her Nanna Fonda gave her and put on some shinny black shoes. When we got there, we discovered that the auditorium was very small and intimate. Like a movie theater. I asked the ushers to help me find our seats and was surprised when they led us to the very front! Just feet away from the stage! I kept katy busy with some grapes and fish crackers and she was so well behaved and civilized. She sat there for half an hour and we talked about the harps, bongos, drums, chellos, lights, and "THREE PIANOS!"

When the lights went black and the anticipating crowd began to whistle and cheer, Katy held a hand over her ear and scrunched her shoulder up to cover the other ear ( the way she usually does with loud noises). Suddenly, a familiar song starts to play- Katy's eyes turned big and round as she watched the lights change to her favorite color. Blue.

Then, just feet in front of us comes a man who's face has become very familiar to Katy. It was Yanni. Katy's arms dropped down and she began to clap loudly

"YEAAAAAAAH,"she shouted, turning to me in wild excitement.

Then the lights turned to the crowd. Everyone was elegantly dressed in rich and dark colors. Most of the audience were people over fifty. In fact, i could only spot two children in the audience. A girl of about ten years old and Katy. Katy was the smallest member in the auditorium, and dressed in a brilliant white dress amidst the formal darks, she stood out like a shinning star. Yanni saw her right away and gave her a smile and a wave.

Katy spent the rest of the two and a half hour concert completely enraptured by the music. She stayed in her spot and only moved to the music. Her eyes were filled with life as she took it all in. Near the end of the concert, some vocalists came out and sang opera style. I could swear Katy fogot to breathe. Moments later, she decided to join the singing and she turned to the audience behind us, half believing they were there for her.

At one transitional point in the concert katy could not stand the silence so she shouted-

"WOOOOOOO!!!"

And the audience joined in to start a wild cheer. It made Katy feel so powerful and important!

When the concert finally ended, and people huddled to exit the hall, katy just stood there, staring at the empty stage. I slowly led her to the isle and she kept finding other hands to hold. She always took women's hands and they were more than happy to oblige and and talk to her aboutYanni.

" hi, honey!" said the first "i saw you dancing to the music! You behaved so well"

When we finally walked outside Katy was so dreamy-eyed as she continued to hum and sing to Yanni's music. We drove home and she practically ripped the Yanni DVD out of the case. Two and a half hours of concert was not enough. She wanted to relive it.

At one in the morning here sleepy eyes finnally lulled and closed. She's still in bed this morning, and i can bet what she's dreaming about...

I turned five and had my FIRST birthday party! It used to be too much to be around so many people. All that business always made me real frustrated and I would have a meltdown. But not anymore!

No-sir-ee!

I had a party in my classroom first, and we had PKU cupcakes and cookies and dancing. I loved to wear my crown. It made me feel so pretty. I knew it was my special day. The day I was "ah-ee-oh!" (five years old)

Then at home, I found a HUGE trampoline! Not only that, my house was transformed! It was full of green and purple balloons and decorations, with inflatable guitars and instruments. That's cuz I had a ROCK PARTY!

Cumpli cinco años y tuve mi PRIMER fiesta de cumpleaños! Antes no toleraba estar alrededor de tanta gente. Habia demasiado que oir y ver y siempre me enojaba y terminaba llorando. Pero ya no!

He cambiado!

Primero tuve una fiesta en mi salon con pastelillos y galletas fenilcetonuricas. Tambien hubo baile. No me queria quitar mi corona porque yo sabia que era mi dia especial (ademas que me veia muy guapa con ella). Era mi dia especial! Ya tengo 5 años!

Luego llegue a mi casa y me encontre un enorme trampolin, y la casa llena de globos y decoraciones verdes y moradas junto con guitarras inflables y otras cosas de fiesta de ROCK!

Hi peeps! I've already been in school for more than six weeks. Maybe that's not such a big deal to some, but to me it is. That's because after six weeks, my class buds and I really get the hang of things. It's all smooth sailing from now on. You know what the best part is? That my mom is my teacher! Yay!

Hola raza! Ya llevo seis semanas en la escuela. Quizas no suene como algo muy grande, pero para mi, lo es. Es importante porque despues de seis semanas mis amigos y yo agarramos la onda. Ahora todo se tranquiliza mientras aprendo mas y mas. Sabes cual es la mejor parte? Que mi mama es la maestra! yupi!

Once a month I get my finger pricked and my blood is sent to a lab in Austin. There, they check my phenylalanine levels to see if my diet and health are good. I don't like doing this, but I only cry a little bit. Then, mom and dad give me candy.

Una vez al mes me pican el dedo para mandar mi sangre a un laboratorio en Austin. Ahi checan mis niveles de fenilalanina para ver si mi dieta y salud van bien. No me gusta hacer esto, pero solo lloro poquito. Despues mis papis me dan dulces.

I had a super duper ultra cool time on my birthday! First, mom and dad woke me up with this HUGE hello kitty balloon-

Tuve un super duper chido cumple! Primero, mami y papi me despertaron con un globo GIGANTE de Hello Kitty.

I was kind of confused at first...

Then we opened gifts. I didn't really like it.
Luego abrimos regalos. No me gustaron del todo.

Until dad put it together. It was a TENT!!! Now I like to be in there all the time.

Then, we went to church and they sang Happy birthday to me and I shared my strawberry PKU cupcakes with everybody.

Did you know that my dad is a star? He made a CD and now he makes trips to sing all the time. Yep. He's cool- like me.

But, while he is gone on tour, me and my mom are in Mcallen. We're staying at nanna and poppa's house because we're doing speech and occupational therapy. Boy, i'll tell you what, its much easier when you understand the istruccions!

Since my therapies are in english, and mommy and daddy only taught me english, its a lot easier to do what they ask me to. I'm learning sign language and puzzles and lots of cool stuff. I'm also doing physical therapy, and my favorite thing to do is to get on the treadmill. I can walk for a whole ten minutes on that thing! And it goes super fast, too! Like one mile per hour (hey, one mile per hour is fast for little feet!) I also learned to walk on a balance beam. WooWoo!

So, you know mommy is such a video sap. She went and made another video for you guys to see. We go to the playground almost every day and this is me on one of those sunny days. Oh, and you get to hear me sing my favorite song too!

Hey, sabian que mi papi es famoso? Sip. Grabó un CD y ahora esta viajando para cantar en muchos lugares. Es que mi papá es chido, como yo.

Pero mientras el esta en gira, mami y yo estamos en Mcallen. Nos estamos quedando en casa de mis abuelitos para hacer terapias ocupacionales y linguisticas. Sabes que? Es mas facil seguir instrucciones cuando entiendes el idioma! (aqui tengo una traductora personal que me ayuda a publicar)

Estoy aprendiendo a hablar en señas y a hacer rompecabezas y otras cosas muy chidas. Tambien estoy en terapia fisica y mi ejercicion favorito es caminar en la caminadora. Camino sin parar por diez minutos! Y eso que va muy rápido. 2 kilometros por hora. (eso es muy rápido para pies pequeños!). Y tambien aprendí a caminar en la balanza. Wuwu!

Bueno, ya saben como es mi mami con eso de los videos. Hizo otro de cuando voy al parque. Vamos casi todos los días, y este es uno de esos. Ah, y tambien pueden escucharme cantando mi cancion favorita!

Hey peeps! This morning I went and freaked out all of my family. Mom put me in the front seat of Nanna's suburban while she loaded up the car. That's when I thought it would be cool to lock all of the doors. I could see mom knocking and saying stuff, but all I did was giggle. Mom kept telling me what buttons to push, but after a while I decided to just open the door on my own. By then, all my friends and family were outside waiting for me. They didn't think it was funny- but I did!

I get it! I finally get it! Mommy is no longer just blabbing gibberish, she is actually talking to me. She talks about cool stuff, like what I want to eat or where I want to go! Wow. Is this what I've been missing out on?

Now, when people are hanging out I can join in as they laugh. I dont know what they're laughing about, but I just laugh right along. I got 'em all fooled. They'll never guess I didn't get the joke... but don't tell 'em!

I also learned to get mom a new diaper when I want to change. It's so nice not to have to wear my poop for a long time. Now I just get my mom a diapy and she changes it right away!

We go to the playground all the time and I love it. I love the seesaw. Mom says that its too much work without another kid on the end, but I dont see what she is so tired about. I'm not.

I love to look at stars at night. Daddy even stuck some stars on my bedroom ceiling. I like stars so much that I actually invented my own little sign for them. I open and close my hands real quickly lots of times. Then, mommy gets it and sings "twinkle twinkle little star" for me. Boy, I love that song...

Oh and I learned how to to dance. I flap my arms up and down to the music. Sometimes I even point my fingers just like those orchestra conductors. I gotta practice, you know.

Entiendo! Al fin entiendo! Mamy ya no hace ruidos raros. Ahora ella me habla y yo le entiendo. Me habla de cosas bien chidas como a donde ir o que comer! Wow. Apoco me perdia de toda esa informacion antes?

Ahora, cuando la raza se junta y se rie, yo me rio con ellos. No entiendo sus chistes, pero les sigo la corriente... no les digan...

Tambien aprendi a traerle un pañal limpio a mami cuando quiero un cambio. Que padre es quitarte la popo luego luego. Tambien vamos mucho al parque. Me encanta el sube y baja, aunque mami dice que es mucho trabajo con un solo lado ocupado. No se de que se queja. Yo no batallo!

De noche me encanta ver las estrellas. Me gusta tanto que mi papi me puso unas en mi techo. Asi las veo cuando duermo. Hasta invente una señal para decir "estrella." Abro y cierro las manitas muy rapido. Lo mejor es que mi mami me canta una cancion de estrellas cuando lo hago.

Ademas aprendi a bailar. Muevo mis brazos de arriba a abajo con la musica. Aveces apunto los dedos como los conductores de musica. Hay que practicar, no?
